Everything must go

Published by smilesac at 11:44 am under Alaska lessons Edit This

The nice weather is bringing out another Alaskan phenomenon – the moving sale. Everything is bigger in Alaska, including garage sales. When people move from Alaska, they tend to try and sell everything they own. The purpose of this is twofold – one: to pay for their move and, two: because it is very expensive to move things down to the Lower 48 from Alaska. Getting belongings by truck to Washington state is similar to moving from one coast to the other and the road is not as nice. The other two options are by ship or plane, which are expensive wherever you are. So, most people just sell. “Leaving state – everything must go!”
