Thinking ahead

Published by smilesac at 12:29 pm under Alaska lessons Edit This

Alaskans tend to look toward the future and not just live in the moment. With the governor’s proposed energy relief plan, Alaskans would get $100 debit cards every month to help pay for utilities. However, instead of jumping for joy and sticking out their hands for free money, Alaskans want to review the plan and make sure it makes financial sense. What is the cost of sending out the cards? Where is the money coming from? Will it affect the Permanent Fund? Will the money be deducted from the PFD payments? They want to know the long-term affects before agreeing to a handout, even though most people would benefit greatly from the money right now. Should be interesting to see how this pans out.
