Bugs

Published by smilesac at 10:29 am under Alaska lessons Edit This

Before moving to
Alaska, I prepared myself for the climate. I prepared myself for snow and ice, for bears and moose, for short days and long days. What I didn’t prepare myself for was the bugs. The amount of daylight in the spring in summer here makes it a great place for mosquitoes, spiders and beetles. I am amazed at the number of bugs I see both outside and inside my house. The spiders seem to like to find a way indoors during the winter months and then come out when the sun starts shining. I kill a handful each week inside the house. The mosquitoes aren’t too bad yet, but I’m told they will only get worse. And the beetles are just cute – again, I’m just surprised at how many of them there are out here.
