Tourists

The tourists are coming! The tourists are coming! I can’t travel anywhere around the area without seeing a big, clean, usually white, cruise tour bus. Driving on the highway, I usually see anywhere from five to ten buses traveling from Anchorage to the small parts of Alaska. It’s interesting to see them pulled up to the tiny, out-of-the-way museums that most locals haven’t even visiting – the Dorothy Page Museum in Wasilla and the Alaska Native Heritage Museum in Anchorage. Some of the little museums don’t really even have a place to park the bus and it just kind of blocks a street while the tourists visit the museum. Although, it’s interesting to note that one of the things that strikes me the most is how clean the buses are – you can tell they just came off the ship and haven’t seen the Alaskan snow and slush.
